I’m finishing up chapter 4 of Out Of the Shadows finally!
This chapter was difficult because a lot of the focus was on the news network and the political atmosphere. Its a necessary part of the fic and (I hope!) still interesting.
I just find it hard to capture the voice of a news reporter, so I have to spend a lot of extra time on the dialogue to get it right.
Short preview:
The carriage door was open by a servant, and out of the carriage stepped a balding older man in an Institute uniform. Nimona didn’t recognize him, but he was obviously a high ranking court member.
“Breaking news! We have a significant development outside the Goldenloin manor: the arrival of the Royal Counselor, Lord Geoffrey Aldric. The recently crowned king has handpicked Lord Aldric to serve as his trusted adviser,” the news reporter woman said excitedly into her microphone.
The royal counselor held up a scroll and behind to unroll it slowly, as if for dramatic effect. “Here ye, here ye! I am here to deliver an invitation on behalf of our noble King Cedric.” He cleared his throat. “On this auspicious day, King Cedric extends his heartfelt invitation to Lady Nimona to join him at the castle at the stroke of noon.”
Nimona dug her talons into the tree bark to keep from falling out of the tree in surprise. Lady? Why the hell would they give her a title like that?
“The king wishes to parlay with Lady Nimona and her personal attendants. May this invitation be met with sincerity and a genuine desire for a harmonious dialogue. The court eagerly anticipate her arrival.” The adviser stopped reading the scroll and pulled out a small envelope with a golden seal. “King Cedric presents Lady Nimona with a formal invitation, signed and sealed by his hand. To whom shall I entrust this invitation so that it may reach Lady Nimona?”
do you think on October 31st, every year for thousands of them, Nimona shifted into a scarier “monster” and knocked on people’s door, asking for candy? or do you think she spent the evening alone, like always, wondering why these kids were accepted and she wasn’t? wondering why it’s all fun and games when it’s their sweet, innocent kids dressing up as other creatures, but when it’s her living that reality they try to kill her?
This makes me wonder what Halloween is like in the Kingdom. Does everyone dress up as monsters? Or do they all dress up at knights because this is the “time when monsters come out”.

Summary:
Nimona is back, but the Kingdom she returns to is in the midst of a political upheaval. While the commoners rally for democracy, the monarchy’s foundation of lies begins to crack.
Meanwhile, Ballister tries to welcome Nimona home, but home isn’t the same with Gloreth’s direct descendant living with them.
And if all that wasn’t enough, Nimona is now forced to decide what role she wants to play in this new world. History has taught her that humanity’s love is fickle and she is best to remain hidden away. The alternative is to step out of the shadows and be unapologetically herself. If one person can love everything that she is, is it possible that others can too?
For any of those interested, here is a small look into the next chapter of my Nimona fic Out Of the Shadows where Ambrosius and Nimona finally meet.
Ambrosius tried not to stare at the gorilla before him, but he wasn’t sure where else to look.
Bal seemed to notice how uncomfortable Ambrosius was and interrupted the converstation. “Ambrosius, we left you some pizza.” He grabbed the box and then frowned. “Nimona, did you eat it all of the pizza? You knew we were saving the last few slices for Ambrosius.”
"But I’m a growing not-a-person, boss!”
“It’s okay!” Ambrosius said quickly. “I can heat up some leftovers in the fridge.” He took this opportunity to quickly make his way into the kitchen. Once there, he let out a long breath.
He could hear Bal and Nimona still talking in the living room as he leaned against the counter.
"Wait, are you really still growing?”
“Don’t be so gullible, boss.”

Here is my new fic! I hope you enjoy!
Question for the Nimona fandom.
I’ve seen multiple fics where Ballister is bad at cooking. Is this from the graphic novel and I missed it or is this just a fandom thing? If this is just a fandom thing, how popular is it?
what is she?

Hi! I’m Wil and I write sometimes. Money’s a bit tight right now so I’m doing commissions again!
Do you have a story in your head that you want to see become real, but you don’t actually want to write it yourself? Then you’re in luck! If the story you want is about one of the fandoms listed above, you can pay me to write it for you! Plus, as an added bonus, you get to help me and my family pay off some bills. It’s a win-win!
Some quick rules:
- No NSFW. Some suggestiveness is fine, but nothing explicit.
- No hatefics.
- No excessive violence and gore.
- If I feel uncomfortable with your story idea, I reserve the right to decline your commission.
- Payment will be done through Paypal. I will only start work on the commission once I have received the payment.
I’m currently opening 5 commission slots. Depending on the length, the estimated time to complete the commission is between 8-15 days. If you’d like to see examples of my work, you can find it on my tumblr page under ‘My Fics’.
If you can’t or aren’t interested in commissioning me, then just reblogging it and sharing it around will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
PLOT: A collection of TGaMM drabbles/oneshots based around the show and whatever ideas it happens to inspire - with a special focus on the developing friendship between Molly, Ollie and Scratch, the growing curiosity of a certain former ghost-hunting tween, and the fluffy romance between everyone’s favorite pair of similarly-named gay ghosts.
((I only recently started really getting into TGaMM, and like with most things I get into, the ideas started piling up and for as much as I’d like to try focusing on my original ideas, I figured I was better off trying to actually get my fanfic ideas out of my head instead of trying (and likely failing) to ignore them, thus frustrating myself to the point of not being able to do ANY writing :P So yeah, no idea how often I’ll update this, it’s really just a place for me to write out and explore whatever TGaMM ideas I get and for others to (hopefully) enjoy them.
Speaking of others, I wanted to give a quick shoutout to @maydaygirl-save-our-ships, who wrote the TGaMM fic “Change Your Mind”. In addition to it just being a great read in general, their work also sorta inspired me to give writing for this fandom a try too! ^v^ So yeah, if you haven’t read their fic yet, definitely go give it a look! It’s certainly the best fic I’ve read from the fandom so far.
Buuuut yeah, hope you all enjoy my drabbles, and please kudos/comment if you can!))

Chapter 5: False Assumptions
“I’m not a good ghost.”
Ollie frowned in confusion. That was it?
He raised an eyebrow at the ghost. “Yeah, obviously.”
The ghost pinched the bridge of its nose. “I’m also not some evil monster like you seem to think I am. I’m just a selfish guy that doesn’t that doesn’t think about other people as much as he should. I’m lazy and greedy, and yeah, when a thirteen year old girl tries to take over my space, I curse her to try and get her to leave.” The ghost rubbed the back of its neck. “So I’m not a good ghost… but Molly thinks that I am. She’s always seen the best in me, even when I haven’t been the greatest friend to her.”
Ollie stared dumbfounded. Why was the ghost telling him this? Wouldn’t it be better to either threaten him, or to try to convince him that it wasn’t dangerous the same way it convinced Molly? Why admit to all those faults?
“Molly deserves better than to be haunted by you,” Ollie insisted. “You know she does. Maybe I could be convinced that ghosts could be good, if you did what was right, and left her alone.”
The ghost looked like Ollie had punched it in its nonexistent gut. Ollie had a hard time convincing himself that that look of pain on the ghost’s face was just an act. The emotion seemed so real.
“Maybe you’re right…” the ghost said slowly. “Molly deserves a better friend.” The ghost looked down at the ground, lost for a moment in thought. It seemed to come to some type of conclusion, because it looked back up at Ollie with renewed conviction. “But that’s up for her to decide. I can’t take that choice away from her, and I’d be stupid to give up the best thing that has ever happened to me in my miserable afterlife. I’m a selfish guy, remember?”
“So you’re not going to let her go?”
The ghost laughed. “You mean she’s not going to let me go. Molly is a black hole of love and affection. Once you’re sucked in, there’s no escape.”
It’s that time again
(Which time? Time for angst)

Chapter 4: Not a Good Ghost
Ollie stood outside the McGee household, his hands in his pockets in order to keep from fidgeting. What he was doing was completely insane.
The McGee’s family car was gone and that meant at least one of Molly’s parents wasn’t home, maybe both of them. If the ghost decided to attack him, would anyone be able to help him? Would he be able to get out or call his parents in time?
He was seriously considering turning around and going back home when the door opened.
Molly stood there grinning at him, practically bouncing on the balls of her feet in excitement.
“You’re here!” she exclaimed happily. “I was worried that you were going to change your mind.” She seemed to take in his expression. “Are you okay? You look really pale.”
No, he most definitely was not okay. “I’m fine.” His eyes darted to the entrance behind her. “Is the ghost here?”
He felt naked without his ghost sensors, but he knew Molly would consider them ghost hunting equipment and he had promised not to bring any.
Molly shook her head, her eyebrows knitting together in concern. “No, he’s upstairs.”
She reached out and Ollie allowed her to take her clammy hand in hers. He wondered if she could feel his slight tremble of adrenaline and fear when she touched him. A part of him wanted to feel embarrassed, but his current feeling of rising terror made no room for that emotion.
“It’s okay, Ollie. You trust me, right?”
He trusted Molly, yes, but she wasn’t the one he was worried about. He nodded anyway.
She squeezed his hand and gently pulled him inside the house.
The house was as warm and homely as it had been on his first and only visit before today. There were no signs of ectoplasm or cold spots to tip him off that the nice normal home across the street was actually haunted.

Chapter 3: Trust In Molly
Meet me outside at my house at 4:30. I still have to convince Scratch to meet with you, so that might take some time and a lot of tacos. In the meantime, I asked Libby to give you a character reference!
Ollie stared at the text from Molly as the last bell of the school day rang.
A character reference? What did that mean?
He didn’t have to wait long to find out. Libby caught up with him outside the school steps. She was breathing hard and her pants were a bit scuffed up, indicating that she might have tripped when she ran to find him.
“Hey Ollie! Sorry, I don’t have much time, my mom wanted me to help her out at the store today, but Molly also wanted me to talk to you.” She lowered her voice so no one would overhear. “She wanted me to give you my perspective on Scratch.”
Ollie nodded slowly, recovering quickly from the surprise that Libby seemed to know about the ghost. It did make sense that Molly would tell her best friend. It also made sense that Molly would want Ollie to hear more good things about the ghost from other people before they met later today.
“Libby, that’s nice of you, but if you are just going to repeat the same things Molly said, I don’t think that will be helpful.”
Libby shook her head. “Molly might be my best friend, but we see things differently and I’m not going to hold back my true feelings. She wouldn’t want me to anyway. I’m going to be completely honest with you.”
“That… actually might be helpful,” Ollie admitted. Maybe Libby could give him more of an insight into Molly’s relationship with the ghost.
He and Libby made their way to a bench set at the edge of the school grounds, far away from the prying ears of the other kids leaving school.
Once they settled on the bench together, Libby fixed him with a stern look. “Before we get started, I have to say that I think ghost hunting is wrong. I think any kind of hunting is wrong. Animals and ghosts should be allowed to exist in peace.”
Ollie was surprised by her bluntness. Libby struck him as a shy girl, but she didn’t seem to have any problem voicing her opinion on ghost hunting.
“I agree with you about hunting animals, but ghost hunting is different. They’re not alive.”
“You’re still hurting creatures,” Libby insisted. “It doesn’t matter if they’re alive or not, it’s still wrong.” She took a breath to calm herself. “But I’m supposed to tell you what I think about Scratch.”
“Did Molly actually introduce you to the ghost?” Ollie asked. “I would think the ghost would want her to keep everything a secret.”
“He didn’t want Molly to tell at first, but I think the secret got to be too much for her.”
Ollie nodded. The less people knew about the ghost, the more the ghost could control Molly.
“Truthfully, I didn’t like Scratch very much when we first met,” Libby admitted.
